New communications centre "Lounge of Commerce" on the Stubenring, Vienna - service facility for members of the chamber - cutting-edge technology for the centenary
checkpointmedia AG in Vienna was commissioned by Vienna's Economic Chamber with the planning, creation and installation of new media technology for the "Lounge of Commerce", the association's new communications centre on the Stubenring in Vienna. In performing these tasks the Viennese multimedia company drew on the experience it has gained from large-scale, award-winning projects. The challenge was to preserve the historical ambience of the building, that dates from the turn of the last century, while equipping it with state-of-the-art technology. The "Lounge of Commerce" is a gift from the chamber to its members to mark the building's centenary and to symbolise the association's new approach as it enters the 21st century.
The multimedia installations positioned over the 140 m2 of the great hall on the ground floor of the traditional Gründerzeit building at no. 8, Stubenring act as a counterpoint to the architecture of the building that was built exactly 100 years ago: the room is equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia appliances that can be operated from two directions. At the touch of a button two beamers project presentations, films and literature for lectures onto two screens. 44 loudspeakers guarantee perfect acoustics. A film running on a row of monitors over the bar shows an artistic portrayal of the Vienna Economic Chamber's accomplishments.
Two research terminals are currently available to visitors to the Chamber on which they can study the range of services provided by the Economic Chamber in digital form. Two additional terminals are planned, showing the Chamber's structure and with information on the services provided by the Organisation for Foreign Trade.
The new communications centre "Lounge of Commerce" has been designed to function as a lounge with a bar-room and cafeteria. The room is an example of the way lighting, images and sound can now be combined at the touch of a button.
