The Great World Theater - 90 Years of the Salzburg Festival
In 2010 the Salzburg Festival celebrates its 90
th anniversary. checkpointmedia was commissioned to create the anniversary exhibition in the Kunsthalle of Salzburg Museum.
The Salzburg Festival was born on 22nd August 1920 when Hugo von Hofmannsthal's morality play
Everyman was premiered on Domplatz under the direction of Max Reinhardt. The Salzburg Festival has since become the foremost festival of opera, theatre and concert performances.
Hugo von Hofmannsthal's basic idea of initiating a festival that involves the entire city is implemented by means of an exhibition consisting of several sections. The focal point is the multimedia presentation in Salzburg Museum (Kunsthalle) that will run from 17 July to 26 October 2010. The walk-in encyclopaedia "The Salzburg Festival from A to Z" acts as the backdrop or guide to exploring the Salzburg Festival. This guide also follows the vision of the founding fathers: "The entire city is a stage."
