Project Details
checkpointmedia developed the concept for the planned permanent exhibition "Von Hexen und Zauberern" ("On Witches and Sorcerers"), as commissioned by Hohenwerfen Castle. The exhibition focuses mainly on "Zauberer Jackl", the most popular figure of legend and the cause of the biggest witchcraft trials ever seen in the province of Salzburg. Jackl himself was never caught: however about 200 people were executed instead of him. A wealth of chilling and thrilling tales was woven from the accusations and rumours of the time. The aim of the exhibition is to use an example to show the phenomenon of "magic" from the different perspectives of history and legend: What frightens us? What fascinates us? Why are we fascinated by what we fear and how powerful an influence can prejudice be? Multimedia is used to give visitors the chance to discover, understand and experience this phenomenon.
