Dramaturgy and storytelling in text, graphics, sound and film

From theme to narrative, faithful to the work in space and media.

Every project begins with the theme, with its sources, its contradictions, with what is to be told. Only from there does the form emerge: space, graphics, media.

Where you want to retain editorial authority, we bring your narrative faithfully into the room; where you need text and concept, we write and develop them ourselves. From more than 20 years of exhibition work we know how content is read in a room: how much a wall panel can carry, when a film says more than a paragraph, when silence has an effect. For museums, institutions and companies, the result is not a collection of building blocks, but a narrative that holds together.

Some of our projects:

“Gewalt – Gesellschaft” at the Museum of Military History

“Gewalt – Gesellschaft” tells Austria’s history from 1918 to 1955 in six chapters and 42 biographies. The texts were written by the curatorial team of the Museum of Military History.

checkpointmedia translates this narrative into scenography, space and media.

“Music everywhere! The Salzburg Prince’s Court”, DomQuartier Salzburg

A center of European music culture, told from 1587 to 1807: the music-historical narrative of the DomQuartier Salzburg, translated into space, graphics and sound.

How we work

01

Theme first, then form

We research and develop a stance before a single line of text or an image is created.

02

Dramaturgy in every medium

Whether wall text, accompanying publication, graphics or film: we tell a story instead of merely informing, and hold the thread across every format.

03

Learned from the exhibition

Two decades in the room have taught us how much a text can carry, when a film works and when less is more.

FAQ

Do you write the texts yourselves?

Yes, if you wish: from research through exhibition and wall texts to screenplay and accompanying publication. And when the content comes from your institution, we transfer it faithfully into space, graphics, sound and film.

Do you work together with our curators?

Yes. We see ourselves as part of the curatorial process and translate specialist content into an experienceable form without flattening it.

Do you also take on only individual parts, only text or only sound?

Yes, individual trades as well as the complete production.

Tell us about your theme.
