For the BANFF Mountain Film Festival Tour 2017, checkpointmedia installed interactive technology in a mobile installation made of cedar wood for the furniture manufacturers Auer. The “Tirol Lightbox” was conceived and designed by Snohetta architects for Tirol Werbung. “Cutting vertically through mountains produces Tyrol’s pulse rate, and the pulse changes during the ascent of the mountain, too.”

Vertical dimmable light lamellae pulse, reveal mountain crests as seen from the side and react to the approach of people which also causes fragments of sound to be played. The interiors of the installation are black and mirrored, causing these pulse beats to multiply indefinitely and drawing the visitor into an interaction with the mountain landscape and its sounds.
