The Vienna Musikverein Concert Hall, best known for the worldwide broadcast of the New Year's Concert, is one of the most famous auditoria for the performance of music. In the course of reconstruction and extension work, four new auditoria were equipped by Ralph Ortner and Matthias Schnellnberger (Wonderworks, later checkpointmedia) with state-of-the-art media technology, including an audio routing system manufactured using fibre glass. In a second phase, checkpointmedia equipped the Brahms Hall for spoken word events such as education programmes. In the historic surroundings of the auditorium that dates from 1870, a flexible infrastructure enables the technology to be connected up to different sites. In order to provide optimum acoustics for the sound system, the interior was measured and equipped with a speaker management controller. Connectible digital mixing desks support the production of contemporary sound images.
